Marc Newson Biography
Inspired by the work of Marc Newson—hailed as one of the most influential designers of the past quarter century—this project set out to design an art book that not only presents his creations but embodies his design philosophy. Through studying recurring forms and materials in Newson’s work, I experimented with melting acrylic to explore texture and form. The result is an art book that functions as both object and catalog: encased in a warped, translucent acrylic slipcase inspired by Newson’s iconic Felt Chair. A cutout on the slipcase reveals the artist’s name, making it the true cover, while the book’s actual cover serves as the table of contents. Minimal layouts and ample white space highlight Newson’s pieces, with each chapter introduced by a different colored acetate sheet.
